It's already been a year since our last men's backpacking trip! if you're interested in coming this weekend, please don't hesitate to contact us for more info! Here are a few words from Brother David Kelley: From Clarksville you will need to head north on HWY 123 past Haw Creek falls campground, past Fort Douglas until you get to the single lane bridge that goes over the Big Piney creek. As soon as you get over the bridge turn left on the dirt road and continue until you see a small parking area on the right where some of our vehicles will be. If you get to point where the road goes through the creek you went too far. From the parking spot there is a small jeep road that is the trail follow all the way to the creek and cross there (knee deep BRING SANDLES) find the trail on the other side one side trail goes back down to the creek and a gorgeous camp spot, that is private property do not take that one. Keep to the one on the left. You come to a Y again take the left. If you find yourself back at the creek you went the wrong way you do not go back down to the creek for 2 miles stay left. Weather is COLD TEENS at night you must have a bag rated at least 20 or below and need to stuff it with cloths jackets… to stay warm at night. Avoid cotton cloths use layers and rain gear is a must. Camp will be dry but hiking will not. Dry food that can be packed is best. Snow sleet mix if you are coming in on Friday. This is a trip that might test your equipment but an adventure and beautiful trip, lots of photo opportunities. There will be no cell service once you head down the hill on 123. |
